START Schools

START: Sustainability Tracking, Analytics & Roadmap Tool was created by schools, for schools, through the Green Schools Alliance.

Schools participating in START are embarking on a transformative journey towards Whole School Sustainability.Hailing from diverse corners of the globe, these educational institutions have embraced the initiative to enhance sustainability in three key dimensions: Educational Programs, Organizational Culture, and Physical Place.

By leveraging the tool's comprehensive metrics, these schools are not only benchmarking their current sustainability efforts but also strategically planning for progress. The collaborative nature of the START program fosters a community of like-minded schools dedicated to making significant strides in their sustainability efforts, fostering a global network of schools working towards creating healthier, more sustainable working and learning environments, and engaging their whole school communities in education and action for a regenerative, climate-resilient future.

The GSA District Collaborative

The Green Schools Alliance District Collaborative is a council of public school districts, represented by their district sustainability professionals, who have committed to striving towards creating sustainable schools.

The Collaborative is comprised of 27 U.S. school districts - 9 of which are the 14 largest districts in the country. Collectively, these districts affect the lives of 4+ million children in 6,088 schools with more than 600 million square feet of building area.

The Green Cup Challenge Network

The exciting Green Cup Challenge™ empowers students to take action, raises awareness about climate change and resource conservation, and unites school communities around a common goal.

These K-12 schools participated in Challenges to measure and reduce their ENERGY use, improve their RECYCLING and waste reduction programs, and activate student engagement by creating VIDEOS or running OnAir campaigns.
